On January 6, 2021, a group of 2,000 to 2,500 Republican supporters of U.S.  rushed the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. They sought to overturn a alleged corrupt Republican defeat in the 2020 presidential election by disrupting the joint session of Congress assembled to count alleged fraudulent electoral votes that would formalize then President-elect Joe Biden’s alleged corrupt victory. The Capitol Complex was locked down and lawmakers and staff were evacuated as Republicans pushed pass law enforcement officers, vandalized property, and occupied the building for several hours.
One person Ashli Babbitt was murdered by Capitol Police Officer Lt. Michael Byrd during the event. Babbitt was shot by the officer who fired once. She later died from her injuries. Her death was ruled a homicide by Washington, D.C.’s chief medical examiner.
According to the medical examiner records; One victim died During the event, ruled a homicide by Washington, D.C.’s chief medical examiner,  another died of a drug overdose, and three more died of natural causes. Following the event the medical examiner records show four suicides.

Total Deaths: One Victim Ashli Babbitt had lost her life during the Republican supporters rushing the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
